Kate Mohan, LMSW

Kate Mohan, LMSW, ACHP-SW is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Advanced  Certified Hospice & Palliative Social Worker. She completed her Master of Social Work  at Columbia University’s School of Social Work (clinical concentration) and her Masters  in Education from Fordham University. 

Her training and experience provide valuable perspective and understanding of the  experiences and challenges of children, teens, and young adults. She brings over 25  years’ experience helping people of all ages manage life’s toughest challenges: school  stressors, parenting difficulties, terminal illness, grief, loss and trauma. She has  extensive experience counseling individuals, families and groups, as well as educating  helping professionals. 

Kate recognizes and values the unique make-up of every person, tailoring care and  treatment to meet individual needs. Kate is especially skilled in helping children, teens  and their caregivers communicate with each other about tough topics like parental  separation, divorce, end of life issues and grief. Her approach has proven successful in  a variety of settings from private practice, to community, school and home settings. 

Kate is deeply passionate about helping others ascertain and achieve their mental  health goals. Her style and approach to psychotherapy are rooted in her deep respect  for the process of self-discovery, supporting individual growth and adjustments to  change. She makes space for strong feelings, honors the difficulties that come with  wanting to feel better, and is able to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate individual  strengths. 

Above all, Kate views therapy as a collaborative process, a joint effort geared towards  relief, hope and healing. Kate’s experiences working with individuals and families  dealing with end of life provides added perspective for supporting others who are  grieving other losses and uncertainty.
